We held a bowling party to say good-bye to colleague, and gave "Prizes" at the end.  The prize presentation turned into a good-bye poem for our friend!

We each have tried our hardest just
To win this bowling game,
And since the playing is now done,
It’s time to claim our fame.

I brought trophies to give out
For there is a tradition
Of naming the most talented
In bowling competition.

The first of these fine prizes shall
On Nancy be bestowed.
Her game was rather rocky, but
She lots of spirit showed.

See, Nancy bowls quite badly, but
She hasn’t got the blues,
‘Cause she knows that she looks snazzy
In rented bowling shoes.

"Looks Best In Her Shoes" is what
I’ll call this prize right here.
If you folks keep your ankles clean,
You just might win next year.

Give Gold Sneakers

This is Cindy’s party, though,
And so I was inspired
To prepare a trophy that
Would honor her attire.

This eensy, weensy piece of cloth
Is all that it would take
Way back when Cindy started, an
Entire skirt to make.

Mini skirts and hot pants did
Young Cindy wear to school,
Though she took care to stay within
The Dearborne dress code’s rules.

But skirts could be quite tiny and
Still pass the Dearborne test.
So I will give her this award
For having been "
Least Dressed".

GiveTiny Wad Of Fabric

It’s a cosmic sci-fi blast,
This bowling in the dark.
Some folks find their score improves,
But others miss the mark.

So to our good friend Sally go
These groovy shades, ‘cause she
It seems, can do her very best
Whenever she "
can’t see".

Give Oversized Toy Sunglasses

A strike can be both good and bad
Depending on the game.
In bowling, strikes are really cool.
In baseball they’re a shame.

In life as well, strikes can be bad
Or may mean things are fine,
A striking worker might strike oil
Or walk a picket line.

Dorothy made a lot of strikes
To boost her bowling score.
I bet, if we had time to spare,
She’d even make some more.

So she will get this little "pig".
She’ll strike it rich, one day,
And this makes sure she has a place
To stash her loot away.

Give Piggy Bank

Spares and splits are challenges
That make one curse and mutter,
But  Joe avoided all of that
By aiming for the gutter!

Here for him I have a crown.
And in our bowling lane,
From now through all eternity

He’ll "gutter king" remain.

Give Golden Crown

If you’re sighing with relief
That you aren’t gutter queen.
And if you think your gutter ball
Just slipped right by unseen,

I hate to say this, but you are
As wrong as you can be,
For nothing in this building can
Escape the eyes of me,

So I have made a new award,
The "
Turkey" it is called.
I’ll give it out to people who
Made lots of gutter balls.

Many folks won this award
While bowling in this game.
So just line up politely when
You hear me call your name

Give Turkey Awards

We’ve given lots of trophies out,
Yet here’s a mystery.
If we had to pick a winner, who
Would that proud winner be?

The winner could be Cindy,
For her mighty fine career,
She’s done a lot of teaching, and
its excellence is clear.

We all could be the winners, for
We’ve all known Cindy Brown,
And she’s a teacher’s teacher if
One’s ever to be found.

What can it be that Cindy does
To keep her teaching great?
How can she keep offering
A method so first-rate?

Her secret isn’t planning,
Although always she prepares.
The heart of Cindy’s method is
That Cindy really cares.

So who then is the winner here?
Well. Cindy, she is not.
It seems that the real winners here
Were all the kids she taught.

Cindy, may you have good luck
In all you choose to do.
And know your pals at Dearborne school
All wish the best for you.
