TO: BRINGING IN THE SHEAVES
(Soloist)
Every Sunday morning, Brenda’s at church early.
Gets right down to business, straightening up the chairs.
She gets them just perfect. It won’t last ‘til next week
Weekly a tornado seems to blow through there.
(All)
Straightening up the chairs, straightening up the chairs,
Once dear Brenda leaves us, who lines up the chairs?
We will sit askew, we will sit askew.
It is quite a pity, but we’ll sit askew.
(Soloist)
Once the chairs are straight, then Brenda checks the candles.
If they’re low on oil she knows just what to do.
Next she checks the wick and sometimes will replace it
That is why the flame can last the service through.
(All)
Candles she repairs, candles she repairs.
Once dear Brenda leaves us, who will do repairs?
We will sit askew. Darkness will come, too!
We’ll be in the darkness sitting all askew!
(Soloist)
When you come to visit, if you can’t locate us,
Search around outside and try to find our chairs.
Seems they travel fast. With you not here to fix them
We’ll soon be at Safeway. Glad we like it there.
(All)
Brenda, we’ll miss you. Gene, we’ll miss you, too.
Always and forever, we’ll share friendship true.
Our love goes with you. Our best wishes, too.
We’ll think fondly of you as we sit askew.
